SCHOOLS & CHILDREN'S YOGA

Chelsea teaches yoga to children within schools and nurseries during term time. She is fully qualified, insured & DBS checked to work with children. She also runs Children's Yoga & Mindfulness Teacher Training Courses.

A Yoga lesson can be created and based around the themes that support the curriculum, including cultural, moral and ethical stories.

CHILDREN AGED 3-7 YEARS

Children's yoga uses the magical art of storytelling to take children on imaginary adventures which they act out using safe yoga postures. As well as stimulating children's imaginations, yoga for children helps to develop their natural flexibility, balance and strength . After the story, they lie down for relaxing eyes closed time and then draw in their journals to remind them of what they have learned. Chelsea tells a different story every week with moral, social and cultural themes. For example, we go bellydancing in Egypt, give a monkey a hug in the Amazon Rainforest and learn how to be safe by the seaside.

CHILDREN AGED 8-11 YEARS

For older Primary School children, the physical activities involve games and techniques designed to stretch the children and to teach them how to relax. When combined with breathing and stilling exercises, these support and strengthen children, not only physically but also mentally by building confidence and improving concentration. Partner work is often used and classes are based around themes that support the curriculum.  Yoga is very beneficial especially during SATS time when breathing and relaxation techniques are useful to as a tool to calm and focus.

CHILDREN AGED 11+ YEARS

For secondary school children, yoga is very beneficial especially during stressful exam time when breathing and relaxation techniques are useful to as a tool to calm and focus.
